Meet Melody! She's a sweet 9 year old spayed female Cocker Spaniel / Poodle mix. Melody needs a calm and loving home to spend her senior years. She's a friendly and affectionate girl but a little shy when you first meet her. She was rescued from death row at the Springfield/Greene County Animal Control Facility. You can meet Melody, along with other wonderful animals up for adoption at C.A.R.E. - 1328A W. Sunshine (right across from Braum's Ice Cream). They're open from 10am-6pm, seven days a week. General Information
C.A.R.E. is a non-profit organizations dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals. They have an inspected and licensed facility that is in good standing with the state.
C.A.R.E. shelter houses between one and two hundred homeless animals. They rely entirely on the public's kindness and donations to care for their animals. They are not city or state funded. All donations are tax deductible.
C.A.R.E. is a "No-Kill" animal shelter. They have always been "No-Kill". They do not take their animals to any facility for disposal. Animals that are not adopted are allowed to live out their lives in their sanctuaries. They work hard to create a healthy and happy environment for all of the animals in their care. They welcome visitors and volunteers.
Policies
C.A.R.E. prides itself on working with other shelters and humane societies, not against them. They have a good working relationship with many organizations that are appreciative of their assitance in taking many of their adoptable animals that would otherwise be destroyed.
They have all their pets spayed or neutered before being put up for adoption. They support early age spay/neuter programs for shelters. Spay/neutering before adoption is the only way to guarantee that none of thier shelter animals are contributing to the pet overpopulation problem.
All of C.A.R.E.'s adopters are carefully screened to ensure that they find the best homes possible for their animals.
Mission
To rescue as many adoptable animals from "Death Row" as they can properly care for. To provide medical treatment for sick or injured stray animals. To combine an aggressive spay/neuter program with a high volume adoption program while providing quality lifetime care for unadopted pets. To network with and provide a rescue service for other shelters, ultimately reducing the kill-rate in Southwest Missouri.
